I had the pleasure of spending the past weekend in the company of two of america’s finest mountain guides, UIAGM guides Geoff Unger and Jeff Banks. While there technically is snow here in CB, I’ve never really been a big fan of core-shots in my skis from the thin ‘snowpack’.

I decided to do something about my seasonally induced inactivity and join Unger and Banks for a few days in the desert. Check out a video I put together from our long day out yesterday. We were planning on a nice casual outing on Castleton Tower with an ascent of the Kor-Ingalls route, but it being a classic and all, it was jammed with parties. Being more of a ‘climber who skies’ – rather than a ‘skier who climbs’ Unger motivated us to do an excellent link-up. We ended up climbing both the Rectory and finally the Kor-Ingalls route in time to descend just as night was upon us. ‘Fine-jade’, the most traveled route up the Rectory tower was absolutely one of my top ten crack climbs ever!
